Pingoo

The story of Pingoo continues...

Good Morning Pandas,
Of course we don’t want to keep from you what Horst Hering saw through his binoculars yesterday.
„What am I seeing? One, two, three, four, five, SIX penguins in a tiny sail boat! And then those waves. That just couldn’t go well. Just now, a penguin leaned over the side of the boat. At that point, a big wave came and…splash! The little penguin fell into the water, beak first! And the boat? It just continued on its way!”
Then he was silent, looking through his binoculars. In a shaky voice I asked him: “And what happened to Pingoo??” Horst Hering swallowed audibly. Then he said in an unusually small voice: “My glass eyes just can’t detect him…” :shock:Nobody dared to say anything for a whole 3 minutes. Ella and I looked at the floor, while Horst Hering clung to his binoculars and looked for Pingoo. A tear rolled down his cheek and he brushed it off, saying “This coastal wind always makes my eyes water”. Shortly after that he jumped up off his bench and yelled “There he is! Pingoo is alive!!! And he is swimming towards Panfu”. :)Phew!!! We were so relieved!
Pingoo arrived at the Caribbean Beach!! He’s feeling dreadful. The poor fella is crying so bitterly that his whole body shakes from it. It really tears you apart!
No wonder. Pingoo lost his five siblings when he fell off the boat! That is bound to be a big shock for him! He is totally desperate and doesn’t know if he will ever see them again. We really didn’t know how to console him. Needing to do something, Ella gave him a cool box, so he’d feel more comfortable.

Five minutes later, the box was full of Pingoo’s frozen tears, which made us even sadder. :(
Luckily, Pingoo started talking then. He told us everything about his boat accident. He also had a great idea about finding his family. But all Pandas have to help out there! Go and visit Pingoo at the Caribbean Beach, so he can tell you about his idea and keep your fingers crossed – hopefully, Pingoo and his family will be reunited soon!
I am so glad that we could lure little Pingoo’s family in the direction of Panfu with our rockets. Look, you can even already see them on the horizon! :)

Oh dear! Imagine they hadn’t seen the rockets and had just continued on, sailing further and further away… :(
Max, don’t spread panic! Calm down. If we light a rocket every day, Pingoo’s family won’t lose sight of us. Pingoo will soon be reunited with his siblings, I am sure of it! Maybe we here on Panfu can help them fulfil their big dream. Pingoo and his siblings didn’t just want to go for a holiday in the Caribbean. No, they had sort of a mission.
Cool! Like real secret agents?

Well, sort of like that….but not a mission like the ones you might be thinking of, with fast cars, wild chases and unafraid spies. Pingoo and his family do not want to solve a case, but they want to risk a jump. They are more or less on a penguin mission.
A jump out of a car?

Ah Max, you always only think of James Bond. Maybe you should watch an animal documentary rather than action movies every once in a while. ;) Then you’d know that penguins might have wings that they can use to dive really well with. But there is one thing they can’t do with them. Well, any idea, Mister Bond, Max Bond?
I’ll have to consult my accomplices first. Pssst Pandas, do you have any idea what Ella is talking about?

Well, I am eager to see what your ‘accomplices’ will come up with. Little tip: Penguins are sea birds.
Penguins cannot fly, although they are birds and have wings :!: You know, a long time ago, penguins could actually fly. But over thousands of years, they lost the ability to do that.
How? It must be like riding a bike. You learn it once and never forget how to do it!
It’s a bit different with penguins. They had to adapt to their natural habitat, the Antarctic. Sometimes, it’s minus 50 degrees Celsius there. You wouldn’t just go and ride your bike there, would you?
Probably not, I’d just slip and fall all over the place!

Or you’d need to add runners to your wheels. :D Penguins have built up quite a resistance to adapt to the cold. They also need to dive a lot to catch fish under the ice. That’s why their wings have deteriorated. They are short, but strong.
Not exactly the best conditions to go flying!

Exactly! Despite all that, Pingoo and his siblings have the mission to become the first flying penguins of the modern age. That’s why he’s always wearing his special hat, too. He’s always ready to go flying. They were going to take flying lessons with a well-known seagull in the Caribbean.

They have had the dream of flying for a long time, Pingoo told me. “A few years ago, I played catch with my siblings on the ice. That was fun! Suddenly, we heard a loud noise from above…RATTLE RATTLE, like that. What was that? Surprised, we checked the sky, but there was nothing but a few clouds. Then, a cloud transformed! From it, something that we’d never seen before came flying.” What that was? I will tell you tomorrow. Now it’s time for Pingoo’s morning ice cube shower.
Technically, I was going to tell you more about Pingoo’s story. But I have something else on my mind right now. I just have to tell you! Listen: Pingoo’s family…wait! It’s rude not to tell yesterday’s story. Where are my manners? ;) After all, you want to know how things continued in the Antarctic, right? So Pingoo looked at the clouds. Out of nowhere, suddenly a…boat…
A flying boat?
Did I say boat? How embarrassing!! I must have mixed up the stories there. The boat did not appear in the Antarctic, but on the Caribbean Beach, here on Panfu! You guessed right: Pingoo’s family really saw our rockets and found their way to Pingoo. Isn’t that wonderful? Everybody is really happy!

Pingoo has such a sweet family, you just want to cuddle them! I will give them an ice cube shower as a welcome in a minute. See you tomorrow!! Or maybe we’ll meet where Pingoo is. ;)
And what about that story now?

Um…that I will tell you about later...

I promised to continue Pingoo’s story, didn’t I? Yesterday, I didn’t really have the head for it. I was so happy to have met Pingoo’s siblings that I just forgot everything else around me.
Yeah, I saw that. Ella walked to Pingoo’s family, arms firmly tucked to her sides and wearing Pingoo’s hat, said “Oi” once and then clapped her hands like mad.

Lenny was totally confused. He actually asked me if Ella grew up among penguins. :D
 I just wanted to make Pingoo’s family feel at home. That’s how you say “Hello” in the Antarctic, I think. Or was it “Bye”? Hmmm, never mind. Let me continue with the story. So you remember that Pingoo and his siblings saw something appear behind the clouds when they played catch. “Suddenly, a cloud transformed. Flying out of it came, out of nowhere, a huge shape, with wings as big as an iceberg :!: It also flew much faster than normal birds! I even slipped and fell down when I saw that. As quickly as I could, I looked back up again, but…it was gone. What was that? A flying dragon?”
Ha ha, flying dragon :D I think Pingoo has seen a few too many fantasy movies.
Max, there are no TVs in the Antarctic! Pingoo saw something different. “My siblings then told me that you call that kind of thing an “aeroplane”. Ever since that day, I’ve wanted to become a flying penguin
Pingoo’s family is now reunited, but far away from the Caribbean and their dream of flying. Do you maybe have any idea how we can give them a taste of flying? Is there maybe an airfield on Panfu somewhere?

You gave me a great idea about how to help Pingoo and his family to float in the sky: a parachute jump off the volcano! That might not be the same thing as flying by yourself, but at least they’ll see the world from above for once.
Awesome idea! Starting from level 31, you get a rucksack with a parachute. We’ll just put those kind of parachutes on the backs of Pingoo and his siblings and then…happy flying! During my last jump, I somehow lost orientation – I landed directly in the Swimming Pool. Splash! :???:

I can hardly wait to tell Pingoo about it! I bet he and his family will be so happy about it. :)
Technically, Pingoo’s family should feel really comfortable here on Panfu! Still, I have the feeling that something is missing for them…This morning, Pingoo put his wing on his belly and looked at me quite sadly. Maybe he’s sick? :???: You’d best go there later and ask what’s going on.
I am feeling really bad right now. :( We might have reunited Pingoo with his family, given them ice cube showers and helped them achieve their dream of flying. But one very imporant thing we actually forgot about: providing food for them!! Now they are so very hungry that you can hear the rumbling of their tummies from far away. What kind of hosts does that make us ?!?!
Don’t worry, I’ll take care of that! I will cook a yummy rice stir fry for Pingoo’s family in my Wok Fu! That should make them feel better.
I didn’t know that you could make anything besides spaghetti and tomato sauce. ;)
Of course, easy as pie. Go to the freezer section at your local supermarket, pick up a frozen meal, dump it in a pan and DONE! For Pingoo’s family, it’s even easier, because they come from the Antarctic and are used to ice cold meals. Perfect! Then I won’t even need to heat up the meal in my Wok. We’ll just serve the stir fry to them straight from the freezer.
Eeeww! I can’t imagine they would like that very much. Apart from that, Pingoo told us what their favourite meal is: ice cream! We’ll just have to work for it in the Ice Cream Parlour – at the “Ice Cream Game”. You’ll have to be quick there and you have to watch that you don’t mix up the different scoops of ice cream. Otherwise you’ll annoy your customers and they’ll take off :???:

Let’s see how you do when you have to serve ice cream.
Yesterday was the big day for Pingoo and his family: They did their parachute jump! :) So exciting! Unfortunately, we couldn’t tell you about it beforehand, because Pingoo’s family can be very shy at times.
Of course we will tell you on the blog how things went. Something really funny happened to Max there. I have visual evidence! Today, though, I don’t really have the time for it. I have to go and practise – the game at the Ice Cream Parlour, you know. I didn’t even make it past the first level yesterday! :(
I know why, too. You secretly snuck some ice cream.
That’s not true!
Ah, admit it! I watched you prepare a cone with three scoops and chocolate sauce, too. Then you put up the “Be right back” sign at the counter. But I see through you. You didn’t go away, but you hid behind the counter and ate your ice cream. So it’s clear why your customers got annoyed and left.
You saw me? Today, I’ll show more discipline, I promise!
Then I will buy a huge cone today, if you’re selling. ;) I am free to relax a bit today, you know. I worked so hard yesterday that I didn’t just manage level 1, but also the levels 2 and 3. You should’ve seen Pingoo’s family, when I got to them with a huge amount of ice cream!
Paws up for Panfu,

Max and Ella

Pingoo Needs Help

The story of Pingoo unfolds, here's Max & Ella to tell the story.

Good Morning Pandas,
Something very sad has happened…or will happen, rather! Kamaria’s Crystal Ball – the one that she uses to look into the future – was surrounded by mysterious clouds of smoke yesterday. All Pandas who have been on Panfu for a while know that this never bodes well.
Kamaria almost doesn’t dare to look at her Crystal Ball in those moments. :???: Who knows what or WHO she will see in there? But she always eventually plucks up the courage to take a look. In the end, it’s better to prepare for change than to be surprised by it, right?
With this thought in mind, Kamaria gazed into her Crystal Ball. Indeed! The smoke dissolved as mysteriously as it had appeared. We held our breath when we took a look for ourselves. Can you see who that is in the Crystal Ball?

It’s Pingoo, a cute Pokopet – and he is crying bitterly! :( It really broke our hearts to see little Pingoo this sad. What on earth has happened to him? We have to find out today! Maybe we will be able to help him?

We checked all of Panfu’s coasts, but nothing! No one knew anything about the sad Pingoo that Kamaria saw in her Crystal Ball. Lenny did see a dolphin when he was out surfing, but he did not know anything about a penguin. Dr. Feelgood has a few Pokopet patients, but there’s no sad Pingoo among them.
But Dr. Feelgood is really worried about the little one’s health. After all, the natural habitat of penguins is the ice cold Antarctica. Pingoo could get severely overheated on our warm island. :!:
If I understood correctly, it’s something like a cold. Just for animals who come from a cold region into a warm one…or something  Dr. Feelgood recommends as much cold as possible for Pingoo – as long as he’s here. That might have been a good tip, but we still didn’t know why Pingoo is so sad and when he’d come to Panfu. Suddenly, we had an idea! We could ask Horst Hering, the captain in the harbour! Of course, he doesn’t do anything but watch the sea all day long. Maybe he would’ve seen something?
When we arrived at the harbour, we immediately knew that we were on the right track. Horst Hering was totally agitated. He looked through his binoculars and yelled loudly “Penguin!!! Help!”. :shock:What was going on? And why did Pingoo need help?
We will tell you more about that tomorrow. Now we have to ask Prof. Bookworm how to best protect Pingoo from overheating or even a heat stroke.
Paws up for Panfu,
Ella and Max

Why does Pingoo need help and why is he sad? I'll tell you guys tomorrow.
